These women are part of a group of activists that pushed for Taylor’s recovery, starting with getting the school board to decide to reopen it. A major facet of the need to reopen is or was the wide range of community activities headquartered at Taylor in addition to an elementary school. Included in the building were many neighborhood support agencies including WIC, Community Care. Amy and Michelle have been trying to maintain a sense of community by pulling as many of the former and future students into monthly activities like bowling and swimming. Both speakers urged a “YES” vote on Tuesday. Word for the day: Schlemiel: An awkward, clumsy person, a blunderer; a born loser, dope or drip. Submitted: Chuck Wehage |
