Guests: None Birthdays: None Anniversaries: Jim Moriarty Announcements: Mary Corkery is organizing a major fundraiser – five or seven volunteers to work CR Kernels games in August – 7-14 and 24-30. Dan Breitbach says more tickets are available – sell, sell. John Schweitzer suggests attending a Silvertones concert at the History Center on March 14 Happy Bucks: John Schweitzer lamented BB gun damage to his windshield; Sister Charmaine was equally unhappy with damage to her car in fender bender; Doug Dix was the first real buck for happiness because the Broncos didn’t trade somebody; Don Grimm weighed in with a buck, but the scribe missed it; Mike Poggenklass reported a conversation with former member Joe Nolte; Chuck Wehage had one related to cheating death in a recent training flight. Upcoming Programs: Mayor Halloran Speaker: Dan Garrick , construction coordinator, Linn Area Long Term Recovery Coalition, told of his present position of pulling together the efforts of seventy odd non-profits in the community to help those not otherwise benefiting by the system. Dan has been a volunteer in a faith-based volunteer organization for eight years, most notably in recovery from Hurricane Katrina. Cedar Rapids runs a close second to the devastation he saw in the South. Dan’s wife is employed in the green energy business in north central Iowa. He accepted a one year contract to coordinate recovery in Cedar Rapids, and hopes that contract will be renewed. United Way is the main fiscal agent in the project, and Dan is technically an employee of Four Oaks The Coalition is the last resort for many flood victims – those who have not qualified for, or have exhausted, support from FEMA, Jumpstart, State of Iowa and their insurance company.
