Announcements: Sister Charmaine is absent with an illness, and should be back in a week or so; Dan Breitbach says the Pancake Breakfast will net about $7K; Dan also mentioned a Junior Achievement-organized Teach-In. Kevin Carlson has sent out an email solicitation for volunteer helpers; Janet Blackledge was recognized as our new Lieutenant Governor (Byron Tabor is committed to recruit her replacement next year; sad news from Laurie Worden on the death of her father.
Happy Bucks: John Anderson put in $5 for Dan Breitbach’s hard work on the Farmer’s Breakfast; Steve Walrath put in a buck as a kind of prayer for the swift recovery of his second cousin, Cedar Rapids police officer Tim Davis who was injured in line of duty; Dan Breitbach seconded that motion with another buck; Dick Boardman was happy that Steve Walrath didn’t spill any more coffee; Keith Sutherland was happy to be back, but sorry not to be skiing; Don Grimm is happy to be progressing with Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP); John Anderson is happy to see Keith Sutherland still operating in bipedal mode after a week of downhill skiing; Doug Dix has reach the $1M mark in revenues from his home health care business.
Upcoming Programs: VP from United Fire Group will tell of flood recovery
Speaker: Ed .Mumford told of the work of the local chapter of SCORE, a volunteer service for small business, frequently startups. They provide a lot of one-one-one counseling to try to make sure that the potential businessman or –woman, thinks of everything before betting the egg money. They are loosely associated with the Small Business Administration. Since the vast majority of small businesses fail quickly, part of their mission is to head off some of the flakier ventures.
