Chuck Wehage was happy, period. David Graeff had a buck for the Chiefs, who are good enough to beat the poorest team in the league. Speaker: Jayson Wagner of the Nassif Heart Center discussed risk factors and avoidance strategies for cardiovascular events. Usually, the first clue of poor cardiovascular health is a heart attack, so a proactive approach is required to avoid that first big one. Some of the risk factors are: family history; age; gender; diabetes; high BP; smoking; overweight; and lack of exercise. Some of these we can change, and others we cannot. For the factors we can’t address, we should not throw up our hands and abandon control of our health. Essential components are screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol, plus going after the weight, excessive caffeine consumption and exercise. Walking and carrying your clubs for 18 holes is not adequate exercise – the heart rate is not maintained well enough. Get an ok from the dr and work out a program. St. Lukes will also offer a calcium CT scan for $99 - $300 is the normal price. This will be offered in a month or two. Word for the day: Cadastre – a register of property to serve as a basis of proportional taxation Submitted: Chuck Wehage |
