Guests: None Birthdays: Joe Schmall 9/16 and Terry Main 9/20 Anniversaries: None Announcements: - A reminder that the rededication of the Olivet Nazarene playground in honor of Duane Kurrelmeyer is set for Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. RSVP by email that was sent by Kevin Carlson. - Mary Corkery announced that we had earned $2060 wrist banding at the Kernels games in August. - Installation dinner is next Wednesday at noon at Elmcrest. Happy Bucks: Yours truly forgot to write down the happy bucks, but there definitely were some. Upcoming Programs: Speaker: Chuck Wehage introduced Dr. Todd Conway, family practice physician who has started a cash only clinic; Genesis Health Clinic in Hiawatha off Boyson Rd, west of 380. Todd had spent most of his career in ER, having received his medical degree in 1988. He gave us some insight into the challenges of starting such a clinic that doesn’t accept insurance payments. He currently employs his wife and one nurse. He is very dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles including good nutrition as part of his medical diagnosis and treatment plan. He offered up a few statistics about the annual per person consumption of sugar today compared with the early 1900s; something in the range of a few lbs in 1900 to over 170 lbs today. His operation is a work in progress as he figures out how to mesh his cash only concept with people who have insurance and may need hospital care. Stay tuned.
