Happy Bucks: None Reported Upcoming Programs: Speaker: Program for the day was Carol Luth and Theresa Malloy. They represented SPANDA, Inc and Vision in Motion. This is a continuation and expansion of the program presented several weeks ago by Dr. Fitzgerald, optometrist in CR. They elaborated on how these programs combine vision with other aspects of life to improve quality of life through vision rehabilitation and wellness. The aim is to try to improve life and keep older individuals in their homes for a longer period of time. For children, it is to improve vision which is then tied to school success. Their clients, obviously, are individuals with low vision problems including such common disorders as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, biocular dysfunction, double vision, photophobia, visual field defect and any other visual disorder diagnosis. They combine occupational therapy and optometry services and provide an evaluation and assessment of current functional vision with the goal to make appropriate accommodations and obtain assistive visual aids. Word for the day: Sophistry - Specious but fallacious reasoning. Employment of arguments which are intentionally deceptive. Submitted: Janet Blackledge |
