Guests: Interclub event with officers of Coe Circle K, Mount Mercy Circle K and Xavier Key Club Birthdays: Hemie Collier, who has moved to take a new position in Des Moines Anniversaries: Jim Platt (2004) Announcements: Dan Breitbach announced that Farmer’s Breakfast tickets available; the Governor’s Visit will be March 26 at Ruby Tuesday’s (B. Tabor coordinating). Happy Bucks: John Anderson will be in Panama for the next two weeks; S. Charmaine got her piano moved in; Keith Sutherland happily reports being invited, with spouse, to Hawaii by his parents; John Schweitzer’s sister wants him to visit her in Florida; Dan Breitbach’s “parents” are in Florida now, but scribe seriously doubts that their invite is serious; Sarah Wood, president of Coe’s Circle K club, was happy to join us this day; Bob Dye will be in Florida next week, as will Rod Thorpe; Ron Sunderman was happy to be seated at table with a math major-to-be. Ron added a lame joke about math majors, accountants, and attorneys – total happy buck and fine: Five Dollars. Upcoming Programs: February coordinator Laurie Worden will host Darlene Schmidt of the Community Health Free Clinic next week, and Dr. Ryan Sunderman the week after. Speaker: The two Circle K clubs and the Key club each gave an overview of their activities. The college groups have membership in the low 20’s, while the Xavier Key club is up to 234 members. All three apply their energy to numerous community and Kiwanis activities throughout the school year. Projects include fundraisers, community service and support of primary education. The Xavier club is helping Cedar Rapids Kennedy to start a new Key Club there. One of Coe’s regular projects is raking Byron Tabor’s yard. Word for the day: Grimm and word were both absent today.
