Guests: None Birthdays: Kay Bloom, 2/14 Anniversaries: None Announcements: The club has been invited to participate in an interclub with Bettendorf on St. Patrick’s day; Farmer’s Breakfast tickets are available in quantity – get selling; in a report on Board of Director’s meeting, a $500 donation was announced in favor of Four Oaks Bridge; Board meetings will take place on the second Tuesday each month – delayed a week; the Governor’s visit will be on March 26 at Ruby Tuesday. Happy Bucks: Janet Blackledge was happily planning a tour of Costa Rica for the next couple of weeks; Jim Platt was happy about a knee operation; Ron Sunderman was recently in North Carolina to help mom, age 89, celebrate that birthday, and is battling health issues and winning. Upcoming Programs: Ryan Sunderman, Director of Emergency Medicine will speak next week. Speaker: Henry Davidson, founder of HDU Center in Cedar Rapids, talked on his project to help needy youth in the disadvantaged neighborhoods of Cedar Rapids. The Center currently feeds about 40 youths, and has plans to grow with construction of a new building. The Center, now in year 12 of service, is housed in the Jane Boyd Community Center. Mr. Davidson told the story of a rough upbringing, having been raised by an aged grandfather beginning at age 4, a successful career in the military and various positions after that. He worked for Kane Photo and Rockwell Goss, where he earned a retirement pension. He stated the HDU Center while leading the local chapter of the NAACP. Now at age 82 he has launched a campaign to raise around $2M for the new building, to be located on 3rd St SE around 10th Avenue.
